Winner: The Rock

2 of 4

The most unforgettable moment of WrestleMania 40 will forever be Cody Rhodes finishing his story and defeating Roman Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, something that would not have happened had it not been for The Rock.

The Final Boss recognized early on the fans' reaction to his return and the teased match with The Tribal Chief was not the one he or WWE desired and worked with the creative team to pivot.

Instead of supplanting The American Nightmare in the main event, he made the necessary change, undergoing a risky heel turn that could have doomed a lesser-talented performer. After a shaky start, The Great One embraced his darker, nastier side, bloodying Rhodes and threatening his mother.

It worked, leading to a blockbuster tag team match that headlined Saturday night in Philadelphia and a cameo in Sunday's main event that concluded with him receiving a chokeslam from The Undertaker.

A star the magnitude of The Rock could have come in, made a bunch of demands, and gotten his match with Reigns regardless of how much the fans wanted to see Rhodes finally unseat the Tribal Chief.

Instead, he listened to the same people he had been champion for since the Attitude Era and proved to be instrumental in giving them what they wanted on the most important card of the year.

It was selfless from a guy with enough clout and influence that he does not need to be and a testament to the businessman The Great One is.

Losers: The Final Testament

3 of 4

The Final Testament felt like a fresh reboot for Karrion Kross, who returned to WWE in September of 2022 but quickly found himself without direction and in need of something new.

All of the reboots, fancy faction names, and creative changes cannot excuse what is ultimately a lack of faith in an act to be more than they are, however.

There appears to be a lack of faith in Kross and The Final Testament as a whole if the total number of start-and-stop pushes and the lack of consistent support for the group's leader are any indication.

Look no further than Sunday, where Kross and Co. were summarily defeated in short order by Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits in a one-sided Philadelphia Street Fight.

There is already a new Kross promo (above) to help soften the blow but the aura is gone and whatever presentation may have freshened things up and helped Kross climb out of the hole he has found himself in over the last two or three months has worn off.

In case it was not apparent then, the demolition of the group by the more popular trio certainly brought that sentiment home.

Winner: Bayley

4 of 4

After a decade of sitting back and watching others rewarded for their hard work, Bayley finally had a moment of her own Sunday with her win over Iyo Sky for the WWE Women's Championship.

The Role Model overcame a bum knee to deliver the Rose Plant and secure the victory, a win that was a long time coming for one of the steadiest, most over performers in the company.

Bayley won the Royal Rumble to set the match up in the first place. While there was no reason to believe she was not winning the title Sunday night in Philadelphia, she had so frequently been the bridesmaid rather than the bride that it would have surprised absolutely no one if Triple H and WWE Creative decided to go with Sky retaining.

Instead, he kept it simple, rewarding Bayley for a career of quality performance as both a babyface and heel, as well as her selflessness as a worker. And rightfully so.

The Role Model had her moment in the spotlight, reminding fans of her lineage as one of the Four Horsewomen and one of the most beloved competitors on the roster.

Where she goes from here remains to be seen but expect to see Bayley enjoy renewed presence and presence now that the Triple H era of WWE was firmly established throughout the two-night extravaganza.
