We all learnt that seeing is believing and now we need to prepare for a new reality. We unearthed cases of audio deepfakes being used for enterprise compromise way back in 2018 with Hugh Thompson, Ph.D. and since then, the deepfake technology has advanced tremendously. It is scary to think about the attack vectors AI will unleash upon enterprises. Things will only get worse as AI agents and applications make their way into the enterprise.But it is easy to blame the technology here. The truth is that fundamentals of security have not changed with AI and the adoption of proper authentication, authorization, and audit mechanisms can mitigate situations like these. This quote from Finding Nemo has been playing in my head constantly since I moved to IRIS 2 months ago and began selling an AI first platform to security professionals. Ask someone what they think of AI and you will hear the various doomsday headlines around the risks and dangers of this new technology or how it doesn’t even work properly. To be clear, I am by no means saying we shouldn't take it seriously or that it can’t have serious implications. What I am saying is that there are ways to take advantage of AI without taking on the risk and we have multiple customer stories to prove this from people who were also cautious about adopting an AI first tool.The biggest takeaway I have so far is that it is not all or nothing. Our customers adopt IRIS and start small. This means starting with their security team using the platform so they can ensure it works, test it against easily verifiable information, and ensure they have trust in it before rolling it out to other departments.AI is a friend, not food.
