Scarlett

Scarlett’s role is pretty clear: be Karrion Kross’ evil manager, meaning help The Final Testament faction at large win matches where she can. She plays the role well, but there isn’t much connection to the audience. She’s also only had two televised matches since returning to the WWE in 2022, both of which were tag matches alongside Kross that were nothing to write home about. There is nothing on her resume, but that is completely understandable given her purpose.

Scarlett is a solid character who uses fireballs, powder, and other mystical powers to gain an advantage for her beau and his cohorts. Unfortunately, she is severely lacking anything else to assess in all of the other categories, thus she falls at this spot on the list. Who knows what her future in WWE will be? The smart bet would be she will spend the duration of her career next to her real-life husband. It works.

B-Fab

B-Fab hasn’t been the most impressive in her wrestling outings, but she also hasn’t had many of them. The unsuccessful Hit Row run had her on the backburner, and now she is aligned with Bobby Lashley, Montez Ford, and Angelo Dawkins in The Pride. Her role is similar to Scarlett’s in The Final Testament, so it’s safe to assume she won’t be getting a lot of in-ring work any time soon. Thus, with a very limited sample size to gauge match quality, no accolades, decent character work, and slightly bigger crowd reactions than The Final Testament, she lands at No. 41.

Elektra Lopez

Elektra Lopez hasn’t been on the main roster for long, but she has been thrust into the spicy Latino World Order and Legado Del Fantasma feud. She has already made an impact, as well, assisting LDF in getting a victory over their rivals. She plays the managerial role well, acting as a voice for the faction when their leader, Santos Escobar, isn’t present. She uses her looks to draw men in and her words to manipulate their minds. Still, she lacks accolades or anything to assess, match-wise. Any popularity she has is by virtue of being next to Escobar, Angel, and Humberto. She may have a bright future in WWE, but it is difficult to see right now, given the company’s current pecking order. Thus, she lands at No. 40.

Valhalla

Antlers up! Valhalla is another managerial type woman superstar, arguably the most useful of the last four we have ranked. The character is entertaining at times, and she and Ivar have become a lot more loved by the fans over the last few months. Still, she is less than stellar in the ring, the character is pretty straightforward, and the resume is dry.

Ivar will probably win a singles midcard title at some point with her by his side, but if he ever goes away, Valhalla will likely flounder. She stands above the other managerial women, but still doesn’t offer much at No. 39.

Maxxine Dupri

Maxxine Dupri is one of the most entertaining and endearing women on the main roster. Think about it: the live crowds and internet wrestling fans gave her a huge pop just for executing a suplex. She is the type of person that people want to root for and see in the spotlight.

It would be a bit reductive to call her just a manager, given the amount she has worked matches over the last year, but she still has a long way to go in terms of putting on high-caliber bouts and being a mainstay at any level. Maxxine’s got the charisma and “it” factor, but with no accolades and few memorable matches to her name, she falls low on this list for now.

Indi Hartwell

How can you not love Indi? She’s hilarious, she’s clever, and she’s emotive; the character work is undeniable and the endearing accent helps. She is still relatively new to the main roster and hasn’t been present enough to establish anything beyond being a lower-card tag team wrestler.

Does she have potential? For sure, she’s got a great big boot and a personality one can get behind. But the lack of time on the main roster and clear slow burn of it all has her low on this list.

Xia Li

Xia Li is an inconsistent presence on television, but the WWE tries its best to make her important when she is being seen. She had an interesting match with Becky Lynch, but for the most part, people often forget that she’s even a part of the main roster.

She can perform decently in the ring and has some cool character wrinkles, but the inconsistency makes it hard to believe in what could come from Xia Li, especially when she is presented as a lethal fighter who rarely wins.

Tamina

The streets can never forget “TaminaMania” at Wrestlemania 37 in 2021. Never mind the fact fans hadn’t seen live wrestling in over a year, the people loved her on that night. She hasn’t been an active presence on television in quite some time, and that’s completely okay; the roster is what it is and there are bigger priorities and upcoming talent to invest in.

It is hard to imagine Tamina being slotted into anything that would be high-level at this point in her career. Her time as a mainstay is seemingly over, but if she was needed, she’d be put ahead of some rookies or acts that have been floundering, which is why she isn’t at the absolute bottom of this list. She’s also got credentials and wrestling fans are familiar with her lineage as part of the Anoa’i bloodline.

Isla Dawn

Isla Dawn is just flat-out hilarious. The WWE has had multiple wrestlers play the horrifying, mystical goth role before, and Isla is one of the standouts. She hasn’t had much time to get things going yet on the main roster, and while the tag team titles are immersed in the Damage Control story, it will probably be some time before she and Alba Fyre can take a top spot in the division.

She can go in-ring though, so there may be some great tag team matches in her future. However, without much to assess, Isla falls this low. In a year, we may be having a different conversation.

Michin

Michin’s time on the main roster has been very “start and stop.” She was part of Retribution, which was later disbanded. She joined AJ Styles and the OC almost two years ago, but the faction hasn’t been too important. She hasn’t stood out much as a solo act, either, though she has been given some major spots such as participating in War Games 2022 and a title match with Iyo Sky.

Michin’s passion is undeniable, but the in-ring work and character still need some fine-tuning. There’s not much of a connection to the crowd, either. She is likable and plays her mid-carder role just fine, which should not be looked down upon in 2024 when Triple H has put so much emphasis on it. As of now though, Michin is still lacking that moment where someone could rightfully say that she has arrived.

Tegan Nox

Tegan Nox’s career has been riddled with injury, which isn’t her fault. This current run has been the longest she’s been consistently on television since she was in NXT, and it’s been nice to see her rise to the occasion in big spots. Tegan is still lacking a genuine connection to the crowd, but she is a solid in-ring worker.

It’s tough to say whether or not a women’s championship, or even being close to the top of the division, is in her future, but she’s reliable in the mid-card area and the work is being put in to improve. You can’t really ask for more than that, given the current hierarchy.

Ivy Nile

Ivy Nile is equal parts adorable and terrifying. What she lacks in height she makes up for in muscles and athleticism. She has shown out in her few matches thus far on the main roster, namely a Women’s World Championship match against Rhea Ripley.

Ivy has some ways to go regarding character work and microphone skills, and the people aren’t popping for her during her entrance. However, her in-ring prowess gets them involved over time. She’s still new but she’s made a good impression so far. There’s strong potential, which gives her a boost despite lacking accolades. The pitbull just has to get a stronger bark in the years to come.

Candice LeRae

Candice LeRae has been awesome this last month playing the older mean girl. She literally got Maxxine Dupri to walk out on her partner from personal insults Character-wise, she gets it and she can put in work in the ring.

Her main roster run has been pretty short and she’s been on and off TV throughout it. It’s difficult to predict where this current iteration of her character will end up, but it is fun where it currently is. People are finally reacting to her and that’s a good sign of what may come down the road.

Shotzi

Shotzi could be called the women’s version of Jeff Hardy, but there are some obvious hindrances to such a high-level comparison. She willingly thrusts herself into any women’s storyline, she brings a palpable passion to the ring, and she is easy to support. Not to mention, she’s got an awesome entrance theme.

Her in-ring work needs significant improvement, there aren’t any memorable matches on her resume besides War Games 2023, and she hasn’t achieved anything on the main roster yet. Still, she has had high-profile feuds and been teamed up with some of the best women’s wrestlers in the company. Shotzi should not be slept on, but she still has a large section of the wrestling fandom that she has to wake up when she returns from injury.

Alba Fyre

Alba Fyre is awesome. Extremely talented in-ring, cool look, and semi-high ceiling. She’s another woman who is relatively new to the main roster, thus she hasn’t been able to make significant strides just yet. But, the potential is there and the great in-ring will keep her on television.

Alba will go as far as her work ethic pushes her, as the talent level and star power in the women’s division is high. Right now, she and Isla Dawn are poised to climb toward the top of the women’s tag team division and possibly hold gold within the next year. Until then, she’s toward the middle of the pack, but that is not a bad thing.

Nikki Cross

It is wild to think back on the fact that Nikki Cross was a Women’s Champion in 2021. The “Nikki ASH” experiment worked for some time, but she has mostly been a non-factor in the subsequent years. Still, Nikki’s unhinged character is entertaining and she is a reliable hand.

She’s got a decent resume, she can deliver a good enough match, and the people react to anything she does simply because she is unpredictable. Still, Nikki is far from the top of the division or even a consistent mid-carder.

Kayden Carter

Kayden Carter is slightly less impressive in the ring than her partner, Katana Chance, but the gap isn’t extremely wide. It feels safe to say that she would have a better chance on her own than Chance due to her unique look and slightly better talking abilities, but she doesn’t automatically give off star potential just yet.

She and Chance will need to add layers to their personalities and get embroiled in significant feuds to level up. As for now, they’re great where they are and consistently deliver from bell-to-bell. They weren’t booked to be tag team champions for naught.

Katana Chance

Katana Chance is one of the most impressively athletic women on the roster. She turns matches into gymnastic meets and pulls off some crazy moves. She is small and warrants concerns about longevity given how she moves, but as of now, all has worked out. It would be very difficult to imagine her without her tag team partner Kayden Carter, as they complement each other well. But the presence of real, non-makeshift tag teams is awesome, and they’ve already got a title reign to show for it.

The biggest concern is their party-girl characters. There isn’t much depth to it on-screen, as most of their talking segments take place at festivals or they simply appear backstage asking for matches. It’s cool that they’re always down to tussle, but they need more to really elevate.

Sonya Deville

If you want to talk about detestable heels, Sonya Deville is one of the best. At one point, they put her in a general manager role for the sole purpose of affecting the careers of other on-screen talent without laying a finger on them. She’s similar to Carmella in being a vile foil for babyfaces who need a boost, but her ceiling isn’t much higher than tag team fodder or the occasional television title match.

Sonya’s still got some ways to go in terms of in-ring work, but the character is top-notch. She also gets a reaction out of people, and her lack of a stacked resume may increase that. Because why would Sonya Deville get title matches when she rarely wins and hasn’t done much? It’s because the bookers know people would hate it and want to see her lose. Sonya thrives off of hate, and the roster benefits from someone like her.

Chelsea Green

There is no woman on the WWE roster funnier than Chelsea Green. She has taken the “Karen” role and turned it into something beyond fans’ wildest imaginations. At the Madison Square Garden Holiday show, she literally countered a super kick by dropping to her knees and screaming “Whoa whoa!”

Chelsea’s the type of person you can’t fully appreciate if your sole metric of assessing talent is winning. She’s certainly not an in-ring technician, but she makes up for it by getting under people’s skin and yielding laughs from the viewing audience. She could stay in the tag team division forever and still be a must-see on television. And with a few tag team title reigns under her belt, that would not be the worst thing.

Zelina Vega

Zelina Vega actually has it all.

In-ring? She’s got it. Character work and promo skills? She’s great. Popularity? The crowds definitely like her. The real issue is that while she excels at all of these things, the people ahead of her excel at them all to a higher degree. Additionally, she lacks memorable matches; they are usually good, but rarely anything that sticks with viewers beyond the week they happen.

Simply put, Zelina Vega gets the job done. Still, the lack of consistency going from a manager to wrestler back to a manager could also be why she hasn’t been able to establish a significant run.

Carmella

Carmella’s been gone for a while, but she’s done great work over the last few years. She’s an excellent heel foil for the babyfaces on the roster and she can contribute to a decent match. We’re almost six years removed from her run as the Money In The Bank holder and Women’s Champion, but she’s been a reliable addition to the tag team division and a strong opponent for televised title matches.

Carmella isn’t a generational in-ring worker by a long shot, but it’s the stories she tells and her antagonization that make her matches compelling. It’ll be fun when she returns to the mix as there are a few babyfaces who could use a snobby heel like her to promo against.

Jade Cargill

It is obviously tough to rank Jade Cargill given the fact her only in-ring work took place at the Royal Rumble. Still, she made enough of an impression and has been presented in a way where the trajectory seems very high. It is exciting to have another powerhouse in the women’s division, especially a Black woman.

The upcoming Wrestlemania six-woman tag match, Jade’s eventual first singles match and the next year of her career will be a real test of how far she can go. But if we’ve learned anything from the WWE Performance Center and their creative team, they will bring out the best in someone they believe in. And now that Cargill is immersed in a storyline, the pedal is progressively being pushed to the metal.

Dakota Kai

It’s good to see Dakota Kai back in the ring after being derailed for several months due to injury. She has always been solid and put in some great work after being called up to the main roster in 2022. She is also a phenomenal heel character and extremely good on the microphone. It’s often difficult to see her as a heel because her style and personality are so endearing, but she reminds you with clever jabs, quips, and underhanded tactics.

With a tag title reign and War Games appearance under her belt, Kai has been proven to be an important part of the women’s division. There is also the bubbling feeling that she will eventually break off from Damage Control and be a solo star. The foundation has been built, and she has crushed every opportunity she has been given thus far. The ceiling is high for Dakota Kai.

Zoey Stark

Zoey Stark is a fantastic wrestler. To be such a ring general so early in her time on the main roster is impressive. She isn’t the greatest talker and her character is pretty vague, but you get Zoey in a ring and you see why she’s been trusted to rumble with the best of them.

It will take a significant change in character to get her into the upper echelon of women, and that may not happen for a while. But as far as good matches go, she’s a go-to. And the WWE clearly wants her to be in significant positions since she is always on television. It’s up to her to take the baton and continue ascending.

Piper Niven

How can you not love Piper Niven? She’s another moment-making powerhouse.

She was great as a plucky babyface, and she’s great as a dismissive heel. Piper’s also had the versatility to tag team with a multitude of women and keep things engaging.

She’s often used in the enhancement, statement-making role like Nia Jax — but to a lesser degree. Still, Piper always delivers a strong match and has made the tag team division even more interesting. Though wrestling fans are a bit misguided in asking for a mid-card women’s title, Piper would be one of the first names we’d think of, if that dream ever became a reality.

Tiffany Stratton

Tiffany’s got the in-ring work and character work down pat. She’s extremely entertaining, she’s flashy, and she understands match psychology very well. The audiences, especially in Perth, Australia, love this girl, and rightfully so. She’s got Olympic-athlete-like talent with a cheerleader captain ego.

It doesn’t feel fair to hold her back due to a lack of accolades since she hasn’t been on the main roster long and the timing of her call-up makes getting real opportunities virtually impossible. Still, she showed out at Elimination Chamber Perth, and has been thrown right into the mix with top talent. She is more than carrying her weight. The future is now, and now it’s Tiffy Time.

Shayna Baszler

Shayna was destined to be a women’s champion, but the COVID-19 pandemic, unfortunately, hindered her trajectory. Still, she’s put on solid championship matches both as a singles star and in her time as a women’s tag team champion. The crowd still isn’t fully invested, but she plays her role well as a lethal submission technician.

She’s shown that she can be more than serviceable and enhance those she’s in the ring with. It looks like the window has closed for her being one of the top women, but she’s pivoted to an upper mid-carder and made due.

Kairi Sane

Kairi Sane was another fun recent return to WWE. Her career has mostly been spent in tag teams and factions, but she still finds ways to stand out with her strong in-ring work and picture-perfect elbow drop. The people love her, she’s won multiple tag team titles, and she’s got a fun, wacky character.

It’s interesting to imagine what a solo Kairi run would look like, but as long as she’s tagging with Asuka in the Kabuki Warriors, or part of Damage Control, more tag team title runs will always be in play and she’ll be a star within the women’s division.

Raquel Rodriguez

Raquel Rodriguez has been a great joy to see thrive on the main roster. It took her some time to connect with the audience, but now she’s getting pops when she arrives on the scene. She’s a unique powerhouse within the women’s division and maximized a role that has seen earlier iterations be a bit more limited in terms of their move sets and booking.

Raquel has also embraced her Latina heritage and speaks both Spanish and English on TV, which is a cool switch for when she’s passionate. She’s done well in big singles title matches, and won multiple tag team championships already. It feels like it’s only a matter of time before she gets a singles title run, and that will decide a lot down the line. But, there is no doubt that Raquel has been a priority since coming up to the main roster in 2022, and has passed with flying colors so far.

Naomi

It’s so great to see Naomi back in the WWE.

She took her time away, combated with different types of competition, and became a standout in TNA’s Knockout Division. While she hasn’t been put right back at the top of the WWE women’s division as many fans hoped, she is doing substantial work in helping Bayley, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill fend off Damage Control.

Naomi’s fun-loving, eccentric character has been and always will be popular among fans. She’s also got a strong resume on her hands, with two Women’s Championship reigns and one tag team title reign. She is a testament to the fact that you can be impactful, even if you aren’t the focal point of a division. The in-ring will always get her big spots.

Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss hasn’t been on WWE television since Royal Rumble 2023, but recency wasn’t part of the criteria here. Alexa’s in-ring, character work, accolades, and popularity are stamped. Every iteration of her character has been entertaining, especially being the evil sidekick to the late “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, and she’s done well for herself, even though several women have moved ahead of her in the pecking order.

There is no doubt that when she returns she will be thrust into something important. There is a real chance that she doesn’t win a singles title again, but she ran the division for years and will always be reliable for a title match here and there when a champion needs an opponent.

Natalya

Put some respect on Natalya’s name. We repeat: put some respect on Natalya’s name.

Nobody has done it this long and this well, despite being put in some uninteresting scenarios in recent years. She’s won her gold, she’s put on great matches, and she has invested in the long-term development of the entire division.

The anxious, catty veteran character may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the fans in the arenas rock with Nattie. It’s a joy watching someone be so selfless despite being talented themselves. She deserves to be ranked this high for what she’s done for herself and others in the division for almost two decades. And who can forget that banger title match with Rhea Ripley earlier this year?

Nia Jax

What a run Nia Jax has had since coming back to the WWE in 2023. Her first stint in WWE brought a women’s title run, multiple tag team championships and she was a solid character, but she wasn’t the best in the ring. It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly has motivated her this time around to perform so stellarly, but she’s one of the best heels in the company, and is working hard in the squared circle.

The mean girl powerhouse shtick feels different this time around, and she has proven herself to be the go-to opponent for someone who needs to make a big statement. The crowds revile her too, which is the point. There aren’t enough good things to say about this current version of Nia Jax.

Liv Morgan

Liv Morgan is one of the most improved wrestlers of the last few years in all facets. There was a long period where her star power and fandom far exceeded her skillset. Now, she’s a reliable worker, talented on the microphone, and displays confidence that makes it clear she knows the level she’s on.

It’s only a matter of time before she gets another chance to be Women’s Champion, but that’s completely okay because the climb back perfectly captures her career, so far. She’s often underrated, having to scratch and claw her way to the top and picking up achievements (Money in The Bank, women’s tag team championships) along the way. In short, watch her. And keep watching her.

Iyo Sky

Simply put, Iyo Sky is one of the coolest wrestlers ever. To be so compelling despite the language barrier is a skill in itself. Her “The Genius Of The Sky” moniker is warranted. She’s got a graceful, daredevil hybrid wrestling style that she has solidified in her two years on the main roster.

Add in genuine investment from the fans, a tag team title run, a Money In The Bank victory, and a WWE Women’s Championship reign, and her place just shy of the top five is warranted. Iyo’s already a star and she’s just getting started. Her future performances and achievements could give her a great argument for being closer to the top when it’s all said and done.

Bayley

Put any challenge in front of Bayley, and she’s knocking it out of the park. And trust, the Role Model had to endure some difficult booking decisions over the years.

Through it all, she has evolved her character work and delivered countless moments. Her current story with Iyo Sky and Damage Control is the perfect example of how she uses her greatness to put the spotlight on other people. She’s won it all, she thrives at in-ring storytelling, she can work at a high level, and she has an organic connection to the fans like no other; even when she’s being a heel!

Bayley is famously known as one of the Four Horsewomen, but she has found a way to set herself apart from the other three: Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Mercedes Moné (formerly Sasha Banks). The last five years of her career have made the long-running debate about the best one out of the four a difficult conversation. And the best part is, you know that she is more concerned with being a beacon to fortify the next four industry game-changers. But whether she’s being a face, heel, champion, or challenge, Bayley doesn’t miss, and it’s time to stop underrating her.

Asuka

Nobody is ready for Asuka.

She’s one of the most reliable and entertaining women in the WWE. She willingly plays any role and could have a good match in her sleep. While fans have always wanted more for her, she’s had a pretty impressive career and is a testament to the fact the business is built on elevating other people with your greatness.

She has held every title, she has beaten the best of them, and she is the type of person that you cannot get mad at getting opportunities, because she makes the time invested into her worthwhile. Not to mention, she is dangerous in the ring and has a versatile move set. Asuka is No. 1 in many people’s hearts, but she is No. 5 on this list. And that should not be viewed as a slight.

Rhea Ripley

Michael Cole said it best at Survivor Series 2023: you look up the definition of a star, you see Rhea Ripley. She is a lightning bolt. She carries herself with a different type of swagger and backs it up in the ring. The men love her and the women want to be her, as she is both terrifying and enthralling.

Similar to Bianca Belair, Rhea has nearly done it all in just four years; and there’s still so much time left. Her in-ring style can be adjusted to any opponent and she always puts on a show. She is constantly going viral on social media and getting babyface pops as a villain. The current Women’s World Champion is, simply put, Mami. And Mami’s always on top until she chooses not to be.

Bianca Belair

When you really sit and think about, what Bianca Belair has accomplished in just four years on the main roster is insane. She is a multi-time women’s champion, with one of her reigns lasting over a year. Wrestlemania main eventer. Royal Rumble winner. Elimination chamber winner. Reality show star. One of the faces of the company.

However, it is all appropriate and deserved given how excellent she is in the ring. The grace, poise, and flair she exhibits all while being a muscular powerhouse is awe-inspiring. Bianca may be temporarily out of the title picture, but she is still appointment-television viewing. She also proves to Black children all over the world that, no matter what people say, you can dominate predominantly white spaces.

Charlotte Flair

It almost feels sacrilegious to put Charlotte Flair at No. 2, given all she has done. Well, we did, and what are you going to do about it?

The Queen is exactly that. Whenever there’s a big women’s match in WWE, there’s a 99% chance she is involved. Namely, the first ever women’s main event at Wrestlemania. And rightfully so.

She is one of the best in-ring workers of all-time, among both men and women. Some have affectionately referred to her as “Must See C” and it’s an accurate moniker. She had the tall task of coming into the WWE as the daughter of Ric Flair, the winningest world champion in WWE history, and has lived up to every expectation en route to becoming the winningest Women’s champion in WWE history.

Her character may not have changed much throughout her career, but it hasn’t needed to. It would be cool to see her involved in storylines not centering around a title, but she is the hurdle any woman who wants to be considered among the best has to get over, so it makes sense. Charlotte Flair is royalty.

Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch is the greatest women’s wrestler we have ever seen. Full stop.

She is everything she makes herself out to be. She is the moment. She is the standard. She is a trailblazer. Moment maker. Game changer. History shaker. Nobody brings more passion to the squared circle. Nobody is more giving. Nobody captivates the audience like she does, regardless of who she is facing.

Every title reign has been meaningful. Every promo has been powerful. Every iteration of her character has been sensible. There simply aren’t enough words in the dictionary to describe Rebecca Quin, but if you want to talk in-ring ability, match quality, character work, accolades, and popularity, the conversation begins with Becky Lynch and ends with her being at the top, no matter how much someone wants to make a case for another superstar.
