Every Current WWE Champion, Ranked By In-Ring Ability (2024)

WWE asks a lot of its wrestlers. The company needs them to be good on the mic, deliver strong character work, and thrive between the ropes. That pressure is compounded when a wrestler has a title around their waist. On the main roster, WWE is stacked with a series of immensely gifted champions.

Every Current Champion On WWE's Main Roster, Ranked By Likability

WWE's main roster is filled with some talented titleholders, but some reigning champions are more popular than others!

When the bell rings, these wrestlers have to prove just why the promotion has entrusted them with a spot at the top of the mountain. Right now, WWE has a blend of veterans and rising, young talent as champions which makes for interesting, varied programming. Most importantly, it allows these wrestlers to add most prestige to their title, and a lot of that depends on their in-ring ability.

The Miz & R-Truth Work As Likable Veterans

World Tag Team Champions

  • The Miz and R-Truth became RAW Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania 40
  • They are better known for their character work, as opposed to in-ring ability

The Miz and R-Truth will never be remembered for their in-ring ability. They are both excellent character workers who know how to get a reaction out of audiences. As the Awesome Truth, they have doubled down on their strengths and are usually highlights on Raw.

But for all their strengths, the other champions in WWE remain superior in-ring workers.

Austin Theory & Grayson Waller Have High Ceilings In WWE

WWE Tag Team Champions

  • Austin Theory and Grayson Waller have high ceilings in WWE
  • They are still finding themselves between the ropes

The duo of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller is extremely good at being unlikable. Waller in particular knows just what buttons to push to get a reaction, and he will prove to be a vital foil for Theory whenever he turns face.

Both Theory and Waller are above average performers in the ring, but have struggled to really standout for what they can do between the ropes. But they're also young, so there is plenty of time for them to evolve as wrestlers.

Liv Morgan Is Thriving As A Heel

Women's World Champion

  • Liv Morgan has been fantastic since turning heel
  • She is still rough around the edges in the ring

After putting Rhea Ripley on the shelf, Liv Morgan has become hell-bent on taking everything away from The Eradicator before she returns to action. She has spent weeks sowing discord in the Judgment Day, specifically focusing on Dominik Mysterio.

Morgan is good in the ring, especially when fighting from beneath. However, it feels like there is still considerable room for improvement in her overall game.

Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn Are A Promising Duo

Women's Tag Team Champions

  • Fyre & Dawn are on the cusp of stardom
  • They work wonderfully as a tandem to cover each other's deficiencies

Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn both feel like they are just one great run away from stardom. Fyre in particular has spent years proving why she is one of the most exciting performers in the game.

Dawn doesn't have as much experience as Fyre, but the duo has great chemistry as a tag team. They complement each other's strengths while covering for their weaknesses. The prospect of them being one of the pillars of the women's tag team division is undoubtedly exciting.

Logan Paul Has Consistently Defied Expectations

United States Champion

  • Logan Paul's mainstream appeal makes him a massive asset to WWE
  • He is better in the ring than anyone ever expected him to be

Logan Paul's status as a YouTube star and influencer means he will always be prominently featured on WWE programming. But Paul has exceeded all expectations in the promotion. His character work has always been top-notch, but he has been far better in the ring than anyone would expect him to be.

Love him or hate him, Logan Paul has been a fantastic addition to WWE, putting on some incredible matches.

Despite having hardly any in-ring experience, Paul has thrived in marquee spots on the card. The way he has taken to professional wrestling is nothing short of miraculous, as he is undoubtedly better than some wrestlers who have spent years plying their trade.

Andrade Is Heavily Underutilized

WWE Speed Champion

  • Andrade has been relegated to the background since re-signing with WWE
  • The WWE Speed Championship is a gimmick for WWE's attempt at making a splash on X (Twitter)

When Andrade re-signed with WWE, most fans expected him to be featured in major storylines. While he has wrestled a couple of high-profile matches, Andrade has mostly been relegated to the background.

He holds the WWE Speed Championship, but that title feels more like a prop holding up WWE's attempt to develop a stronger footprint on X. Fans who followed him in NXT or AEW know what Andrade is capable of between the ropes.

Damian Priest Is Still Growing As A Performer

World Heavyweight Champion

  • Priest is still growing into the role of a main event star
  • He is being overshadowed by the beef between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk

Damian Priest's reign as World Heavyweight Champion feels lacking. Priest has all the tools needed to succeed, he is strong on the mic, a good character worker, and can go in the ring. However, it feels like he hasn't nailed his character yet, which hampers what he can achieve as a champion.

Regardless, El Campeon can always be relied upon to put on a good match, and sometimes even a great one. Right now, it just feels like he is being overshadowed by the CM Punk-Drew McIntyre feud.

Bayley Is Consistently Great

WWE Women's Champion

  • Bayley is one of the most decorated veterans in WWE
  • She is finally getting her flowers as WWE Women's Champion

Despite having won countless championships in WWE, Bayley has always felt a little underrated. Winning the WWE Women's Championship at WrestleMania 40 was a crowning moment for her, a prize befitting her status as one of the greatest performers in WWE history.

She is one of the cornerstones of the division, and has spent years putting in stellar performances between the ropes. She is finally getting recognition for her consistent greatness.

Sami Zayn Is One Of The Best In The World

Intercontinental Champion

  • Zayn has gone from strength-to-strength for several years
  • He is one of WWE's greatest wrestlers

Despite being booked inconsistently, Sami Zayn has worked tirelessly to establish himself as a major player in WWE. After a great storyline with The Bloodline, and winning tag team gold with Kevin Owens, Zayn has won singles gold as the Intercontinental Champion.

There have been plenty of fantastic and lackluster Intercontinental Championsin every WWE era!

He has held the title before, but it is more prestigious than it has ever been, and is always featured prominently on WWE programming. Most importantly, Zayn's fire as a performer and strong character work means he is the most well-rounded he has ever been.

Cody Rhodes Is A Top Tier Storyteller

Undisputed WWE Champion

  • Cody Rhodes is still finding his place as the face of WWE
  • He is adding layers to his character through his in-ring work

Cody Rhodes was arguably more interesting when he was chasing the championship, but he is still growing into his role as the face of the company. Rhodes' abilities as a storyteller have always elevated his storylines, and his time as champion has been no different.

His recent feud with AJ Styles has added complexity to his character, as he isn't just a cookie-cutter babyface. Rhodes is capable of tapping into his dark side, which makes him infinitely compelling between the ropes.
