You are in for a real treat with this cookie recipe. It is packed with bacon pieces and lots of decadent chocolate chips. If you love bacon, this is the cookie recipe for you.
The sweet and salty combination of bacon desserts is absolutely delicious. This is one of our favorite cookies to make.
Ingredients:
- Butter, softened at room temperature
- Bacon Grease, cooled and solidified
- Granulated Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Large Eggs
- Vanilla Extract
- All Purpose Flour
- Cornstarch
- Baking Soda
- Salt
- Bacon, cooked crisp and roughly chopped
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
How to make bacon chocolate chip cookies:
- Preheat the oven. Set it to 350 degrees F.
- Combine the dry ingredients. In a medium size bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch and salt.
- Beat the butter and sugars. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, bacon grease and both sugar with a hand held mixer or a stand up mixer. Then add in the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Combine both together. Gradually stir the flour mixture into the butter until just combined. I recommend stirring in the flour by hand and be careful not to over mix.
- Add the bacon and chocolate. Then fold in the chopped bacon and chocolate chips.
- Form into balls. Place the cookie dough onto a baking sheet using a cook scoop or rounded tablespoon.
- Bake the cookies. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges of the cookies are slightly browned.
- Allow to sit. Remove the pan from the oven and allow the cookies to sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Then move them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Enjoy. Then the cookies are ready to serve and enjoy!
How to store:
Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container or ziplock bag at room temperature for up to 1 week. I store a piece of bread in the container with the cookies to keep them moist.
How to freeze:
Flash freeze the unbaked cookie dough balls on a cookie sheet in the freezer. This normally takes 2 to 3 hours.
Then place the cookies in a freezer container or bag. Freeze up to 2 months.
Bake as normal when ready to enjoy. You may need to add 2 to 3 minutes to the baking time if frozen.
Learn all about freezing cookies for baking.
Another option is to freeze the cookies already baked. Allow the cookies to cool completely and store inside a freezer container.
Separate the cookies with parchment paper so they do not stick to each other. Freeze up to a month and thaw overnight on the counter when ready to enjoy.
How to cook the bacon:
The bacon needs to be cooked so that it is crispy. You can cook it on the stovetop until it is crispy over medium heat. You can also cook bacon in the oven.
Allow the bacon to cool and chop into small pieces.
How to melt the butter:
Use a microwave safe bowl to melt the butter. Start with 30 second intervals until melted. The butter should be completely cool before using.
Substitutions and Additions
- Bourbon. You can add ¼ cup to the wet ingredients. Combine as normal.
- Maple Syrup. Add ½ cup maple syrup to the cookie mixture. Try to use real maple syrup if possible. The flavor is so much better.
- Dark Chocolate. Substitute dark chocolate chips for milk chocolate.
- Omit the bacon. These cookies also taste fabulous without the bacon.
